What looks will your guests be happy with this year? Artists from R+Co Collective and IGK share the styles they're doing and suggestions they're making now that 2022 is here.

Time to Repair

Trends for 2022 Offer Salon Clients a Variety of Looks

“Life drastically changed after many months of quarantine and so did our habits, routines, and priorities," says Aaron Grenia (above), co-founder of IGK Hair Care. "We’re learning the importance of practical maintenance routines and using products with ingredients that actually nourish the hair. For 2022 we can expect more products for curly, thick hair—products that deeply penetrate the hair cuticle and repair from the inside out.”

For your guests with thick hair in need of repair, Grenia recommends IGK's Best Life 100% Plant-Powered Nourishing Hair Oil and Legendary Dream Hair Shampoo & Conditioner.

Brown Gets the Crown

“Gen Z are now more aware of their health and being healthy," reports Franck Izquierdo (above), co-founder of IGK Hair Care. "I see the healthy brunette as being the trend of the new year. Being behind the chair every day in my salons, I’m listening to my clients, and they also feel like brunette gives them more power and strength.”

Izquierdo recommends IGK Mixed Feelings Brunette Leave-In Toning Drops.

Face Framing and Sun-Kissed Highlights

Trends for 2022 Offer Salon Clients a Variety of Looks

“For 2022, I predict we’ll be seeing a lot of brunette with caramel-melt face framing," predicts Richy Kandasamy (above), colorist and R+Co Collective member. "This shade is great on a darker complexion, depending on the season. In the winter, guests can go warmer with their hair color. In the summer, they can keep it in the same palette, but more of a muted, chestnut tone. Seamless sun-kissed highlights will also be big. This is an all-season, year-round color. These seamless, natural highlights are so delicate that people can wear it with any makeup.”

Bangs, Bobs and 90’s Resurgence

Trends for 2022 Offer Salon Clients a Variety of Looks

“I feel like a heavy bang will be popular for 2022," says Anthony Campbell, stylist and R+Co Collective member. "A lot of women will be asking for a heavier, either straight across, blunt bang or sideswept, slightly longer bang.”

Clariss Rubenstein, stylist and R+Co Collective member, says, “I’m seeing a mid-length, blunt '90s style bob trending. Somewhere above the shoulder and below the chin.”

This year will bring out more healthy, shiny hair, according to Marwa Bashir, stylist and R+Co Collective member. "I think the long '90s layers will be here to stay, along with more French-inspired, effortless hair styling. I love the idea of less is more for 2022. Lots more color that feels natural but with an elevated gloss or natural highlight.”
