Jessica Simpson looked radiant as she stepped out onto the red carpet for the recent 25th Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards at the Museum of Modern Art. The stylish mom-to-be wore a short, red Donna Karan dress that looked flawless with long hair pulled back and flowing down her back and shoulders.
"She looked gorgeous," said celebrity stylist and Moroccanoil Global Brand Ambassador Robert Vetica, who created her look for the night and has styled the star's hair for numerous red carpet occasions. I wanted to create a look that was soft and fresh to complement the glow in her face, yet elegant enough to accent the great dress she wore.”
Robert Vetica explains how he created Jessica's look for the night:
1. Vetica blow dried her hair with Moroccanoil Treatment.
2. Then, using a 3/4 inch curling iron, and starting at the back of the head, he set the hair and created a styling base for a bouncier look. This foundation allowed for a fuller head of hair as opposed to a spiral curl, which would have just given movement.
3. Vetica directed the flow of the set away from the face and back, then sprayed the hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray for a manageable hold.
4. After brushing through, he took a large section of hair starting at the top of the ears and moving up and teased it to pump up the volume, then directed and pulled the hair back to the crown.
5. After brushing the hair into place, he pulled and "tightened" it as I directed it up and away from the face. Then he pulled on the sides as if he were making a ponytail at the crown, so it was tighter without too much tension at the top.
"It's important to remember that all face types are different, so if you are recreating this look at home, you can give the look as much or as little height as you need to make it flattering to your facial shape and bone structure," Vetica says.
6. After finishing the look, he twisted the hair at the crown, pinned and connected it with an elastic band, tucked the ends under and pinned.
7. Finally, he pulled some of the hair on her left side toward the front and finished with a good amount of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray, and completed with a mist of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for added shine.
