Beauty Industry Mourns Loss of Frank Liguori, Scruples Co-Founder

The beauty industry mourns the loss of Scruples Co-Founder Frank Liguori who passed away on May 3, 2014.  Francis Joseph Liguori, born on March 23, 1930, grew up in The Bronx, NY with a passion for cars, swimming, music, dancing, and art. In 1949 he graduated from The School of Industrial Art in NYC with an emphasis in Advertising Art. He made the honor roll, was the
President of his class, and Captain of the Swim team. Frank began his career as an artist at an advertising agency but quickly realized that his real talent was in the art of marketing and selling rather than sitting at the drafting board. He found a job as a salesman calling on beauty salons for a local beauty supply distributor in the Northeast. LaMaur, Inc. took notice of Frank’s people skills and selling abilities and he was hired as the company's Northeast Regional Sales Manager. He continued to be promoted, moving up to the position of National Sales Manager and onto Vice President of the Salon Division.

In 1983 Frank left LaMaur, Inc. to pursue another dream. He and his business partner and good friend, Jack Storey, founded Scruples Professional Salon Products. Through the many relationships they had built in the Professional Beauty Industry, a foundation was created that has allowed Scruples to have continued growth through the years and become the successful
company it is today.

Frank touched and had been touched by many wonderful people in the Beauty Industry he loved so much. He served on the BBSI Board of Directors, The Cosmetology Advancement Committee as well as The Cosmetology Resource Committee helping our industry become better for all who love it. He was also chosen as the City of Hope Honoree in 1991 and used
this platform to raise money for cancer research.

He was a man greatly loved by his family and friends. He is survived by his brother Ralph (Jane) Liguori; son Frank Liguori; daughters Toni Liguori, Tracy Liguori Lubeley, and Mia Liguori (Dan) McHugh; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Chessie Liguori, sister Helen Klos and parents Carmine and Molly Liguori.
Memorial donations can be made online in memory of Frank Liguori under the affiliation of the National Professional Salon Industry at the following link: http://www.cityofhope.org/how-to-help

From the Scruples announcement, a beautiful final thought:
"Frank lost his soulmate and love of his life, wife Chessie Liguori, in 1999, a heartbreak that he never really recovered from. One of the things they loved to do is dance. Today, they are dancing together once again.
