Jacqui Neale (@jackss_) of the Butterfly Loft (@butterflyloftsalon), Los Angeles, California, had an opportunity with client Sheila who was looking for a fresh start for the new year. She also wanted something easier before a month long trip overseas. The transformation was a hit and was also named #1 on Butterfly Loft Salon's 2014 year-end list.

After cutting 10 inches and creating a textured long bob, Neale addressed the color. Here she offers the how to:

Step 1:  Balayage highlights in foils with Wella Blondor (blended with 20 volume developer for the back and 30 volume developer for the front).
Step 2: Process for 40 minutes, lifting to level 8/9. Shampoo and condition the hair.
Step 3: Tone with a mix of Wella Illumina 7/81, 6/16 and 10/69.
Step 4: Process for 15 minutes, then rinse and condition.
