MANNEQUIN MONDAY: Getting Busy

One of MODERN's favorite artists, Cassandra McGlaughlin (@cassandraplatinum), owner of Salon Platinum, Tampa, Florida, along with her colleague Dominique Limone (limonetree), are inspiring hairdressers and colorists with a program called "Mannequin Monday." Salon professionals are invited to show their favorite finishes on a mannequin head with a chance to be featured on their instagram feeds. MODERN is thrilled to share the love!

This week McGlaughlin, Limone, MODERN and "guest selector" Lucie Doughty (Paul Mitchell Editorial Director and founder of Straight Pin Studio), have come up with a nice variety of looks that clearly show incredible talent in color and design:

LUCIE  DOUGHTY SELECTS:

Wendy Delgado (@_wendydelg), a freelance artist from Whittier, California, actually got into hairstyling because of vintage hair. "I thought vintage hair was so amazing and well-done! I try to re-create vintage hairstyles with a modern to twist to make them new again and a little different calling it 'Modern Vintage'. Some tricks I have learned along the way for vintage hairstyles is starting with a good pincurl/roller set, backcombing and spraying."

DOMINIQUE LIMONE SELECTS:

Jake Khan (@jacobhkhan) is the creative director for Shearious Salon in Atlanta, Georgia. "We use Goldwell color and Arrojo products," he says. "I love the Mannequin Monday idea. I'm trying to get as many people involved as I can. Thanks for being inspiration for us up here in Atlanta!"

 

CASSANDRA MCGLAUHGLIN SELECTS:

Shanna Blair (@shannablair_beauty), is an artist at Cloud9Salon, Payson, Utah and a cosmetology instructor at American Beauty Academy. " I often practice new color trends and styles on mannequins, so that I have the technique down before working on a client. For this color I used Joico Color Intensity Pink. Vintage hairstyles are definitely my favorite thing! You can never practice too much."
