Rosvelt (@rosvelt) a Miami based hairstylist, tagged MODERN with this beautiful sombre makeover and we had to know more. "This is my signature foiling technique called California Blend haircolor," he says.
Here he shares the how to:
Formulas (Aveda Full Spectrum):
Highlights: Enlightener & 15 volume developer
Lowlights: 40g 7N
1g Light V/B
40g 20 volume developer
Gloss: 40g 10N
1g Light Y/O
1g Light V/B
40g Creme CTA
Timing: 2:30 hrs for highlights & lowlights, gloss, and blow dry
Technique:
Step 1: Begin at the nape area, sectioning off in "V" & weaving the hair.
Step 2: Apply Enlightener through out weaved sections. Keep approx. 2" from scalp and while applying, lift the hair off the foil and lightly feather with brush for a softer effect.
Step 3: Proceed the "V" section and application up to point of distribution and placing a lowlight between each highlight.
Step 4: At the sides, take diagonal sections, do a slight back comb, and weave hair. Apply Enlightener in the same manner as the back foils.
Step 5: The Mohawk area is sectioned horizontally and same slight back comb as sides is used.
Step 6: After foils are shampooed, gloss is applied and left for 5 minutes.
