Chi Diep (@chidiephair) of Studio 91 in Yorkville, Toronto, says she had a great opportunity with this first time client. "She had her hair highighted blonde a year ago from another salon. Because she has gone without color for a year, it developed into a color correction." Diep points out that this client had about 6 inches of regrowth, with brassy and dry midshaft and ends. "Her natural base is a level 2 and her blonde was a level 7/8. She wanted to retouch the regrowth and go for a much lighter blonde."
Here Diep shares the color how to, after removing a few inches of the damaged ends:
STEP 1: Full head babylights back to back in foil with 30 volume Wella Blondor plus 1/4oz Olaplex. Process with heat, lifting to a level 8/9.
STEP 2: To prevent overprocessing, remove the back sections first and rinse. Process the front sections lifting to the desired level of lightness.
STEP 3: Remove remaining foils. Shampoo, towel dry and apply Olaplex No 2 for 10 minutes. Rinse.
STEP 4: Balayage with 30 volume Blondor plus 1/4oz Olaplex. Lift to desired lighteness. Shampoo and towel dry.
STEP 5: Tone with Joico Vero Kpak Chrome A9 for 5 - 10 minutes. Rinse and add Olaplex No 2 for 10 minutes.
