Sydney Ann Lopez is one of the most encouraging, supportive, talented stylists MODERN SALON is following on Instagram. She regularly posts work throughout the day that has become so recognizable to our editors, we know who is sharing with us before we even see her name. She's best known for her vibrants and pastels but she also earned a spot on our MODERN SALON 100 for her beautiful braiding and styling skills.

Most viral post: My sisters are always willing to let my creativity take over during styling. I took a few photos of them together, because their colors compliment each other so well. I put in a few braids and victory rolls and snapped a few images. It was late when I posted the image. By morning, that image had been shared on eight major beauty pages.

Pro tip: The quirky side of me likes to make sure my last six posts go together aesthetically. I will wait to post a bright, bold color if I have several pastels back to back.

How social media changed my life: I graduated cosmetology school in 2012 and at that time we were only taught all-over color, highlights and lowlights. Balayage, colormelts, ombre, sombre, foilayage, base-breaking, pastels and metallics are just a few examples of how quickly social media has progressed our world of color. Without social media for learning, I would not only be behind, but I would find my creativity stifled.
The first time I was featured on MODERN SALON: I won the #playingwithblue contest. It had been a goal since I joined Instagram; I am so glad I never stopped tagging @modernsalon.
