For some, March Madness is a sporting event. For me, March has long been tied to the excitement and peak of our beauty industry's show season. Beyond the energy boost of great education and new products, what I enjoy most at a show is the connection I and our MODERN SALON Media team experience with salon professionals.
In January, we were at The Salon Association's 10th Annual Symposium in San Diego. Next stop was the Beauty Revolution show in Long Beach, California, followed by the International Salon and Spa Expo in Los Angeles. The first weekend in March we stay closer to home, attending Chicago's Midwest Beauty Show. At those events and others throughout the year, we interact with everyone cosmetology students, stylists, hair color specialists, salon owners, independent contractors, chain salons, estheticians, nail artists and educators in venues where the common denominators are education, product innovation and building professional success.
We appreciate this "face to face" experience because everything we do at MODERN SALON Media is driven by those same three traits?education, innovation, success?and because our magazines and websites are designed to be of service to salon professionals of every segment and at every stage of your career.
You read MODERN because you value professional education and you want to stay informed of industry-wide trends and news. Salon and spa owners read sister publication SALON TODAY because they want to focus on growing their businesses. Colorists dedicated to being the best at their craft read PROCESS. Professionals who want to elevate their skin care business are loyal to the fresh voice of RENEW. And soon, students and starting stylists will have a new source to help launch successful salon careers.
MODERN SALON's FirstChair Yearbook and the FirstChair.com website will debut this June. The FirstChair print edition is an annual success guide distributed to graduating cosmetologists and newly licensed stylists. FirstChair online will host a collection of tools, resources and content aimed to build confidence, community and skills for emerging professionals.
We're proud to introduce this new "connection" point and to serve specifically this vibrant, important segment of our salon world.
While the site launches officially in June, I encourage all new stylists and students to visit www.FirstChair.com today to register for an exclusive "first look" at the FirstChair program. Educators, school owners and salon owners can also visit FirstChair.com to reserve copies of the FirstChair yearbook and success guide.
