If someone told you you didn’t have to work on Saturdays and you could still be a highly successful hair stylist, would you believe it?

Probably not, but David and Nicole Barnett, owners of High Performance Stylist Business Coaching, want you to challenge that thought. The couple has recently championed a cause called “We Don’t Do Saturdays,” in which they believe that salons closing on the weekend — plus offering flexible hours during the week — so that employees can have a better work-life balance is the gateway to skyrocketing staff retention, productivity, job satisfaction and overall success of the salon industry.

Here, MODERN SALON’s Digital Content Strategist Nicole Davis sat down with the Barnetts to discuss the realities of this proposition — including the financials — and how it might look for your salon.
