Calling all makeup artists! I have wonderful news.
After being shuttered for two years, the much loved and lauded The Makeup Show will make its triumphant return to New York City on November 6-7. As a makeup artist, I know firsthand what a huge wrench the Covid crisis tossed into the world of powder and paint, so I’m more than excited to put on my fancy clothes and once again mingle with my fellow makeup artists, explore new products, learn new tricks… and just be surrounded by the beauty of makeup.
What I love most about The Makeup Show is it’s a beauty extravaganza for any artist at any stage of their career. Yes, even an old pro like yours truly finds much needed inspiration and new ideas by attending. Top on my list is the opportunity to elevate your career by learning from the best of the best in the industry. Taking the stage in NYC to share their knowledge in workshops, demos, and keynote speeches will be James Molloy, Mimi Choi, Daniel Martin, James Vincent, Matin, and Danessa Lyrics.
At past shows, I’ve learned from my pro peers a bevy of beauty short cuts, including new ways to execute a cut crease, creating seamless foundation with a Beauty Blender, and how to contour and highlight the face with foundation. The business classes have taught me proper ways to handle a bridal contract, techniques to negotiate rates, and the do's and don’ts of proper set etiquette.
If you’ve come to shop, you won’t be disappointed. The show has more than 50 professional and luxury brand companies, including MYKITCO, Lashify, Kevyn Aucoin, Cinema Secrets, Surratt, Urban Decay, RCMA, Senna, and Ben Nye—all at industry discounts.
For safety, the show is taking COVID-19 precautions by installing hand sanitation stations throughout the event as well as social distancing between booths. For attendees, masks will be required along with proof of vaccination.
If you cannot make it to the November event at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City, The Makeup Show will be bringing its beauty experience to Chicago in March 2022.
