TRANSFORMATION: Taking The Plunge

Jessica Mendieta (@jessdomyhair) of the Butterfly Loft (@butterflyloftsalon) in Los Angeles, CA was paid a visit by Kimberly who has been wanting to cut her hair shorter for such a long time, and finally got the courage to take the plunge.

Right off the bat, Mendieta cut 18 inches off of her ultra-thick burgundy locks. Then she did a slight undercut to remove some weight and give it a textured, light, wispy feel.  For the sides she over directed toward the back of the ear to conserve length.

Next, Mendieta addressed the color. Here she offers the how to:

Step 1:  Apply Wella Color Touch 6/01 to mute out the burgundy ends.

Step 2: Next apply equal parts of Wella 5/77 and 4/75 with 20 volume developer on the roots, 30 volume on the mids, and 10 volume on the ends.

Step 3: Process for 45 minutes, then shampoo and apply a conditioning masque.

After blow drying, Mendieta did some final slide cutting to remove weight, and add texture by the face.  She finished by adding some loose, tousled curls.
