Spencer Henry (@SpencerHenryHair), a Pure Artist hair stylist in Los Angeles, CA. is "dedicated to glamorous, healthy hair. Most of my styling is influenced by 1950’s/1960’s hollywood. I began my career 8 years ago at age 16 and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Outside of the salon I spread the message on creating beautiful, healthy hair in salons all over as a Pureology Brand Educator."

When we saw this transformation on Instagram we tracked Henry down to get more information. The client, an ombre enthusiast, was eased into a pretty, ashier sombre:

"My client's hair had been lightened in the past but left with a bit of spottiness and a decent amount of brassiness. After determining her hair was healthy enough to process a second time (8 weeks later) we went ahead and got to lightening. Her hair remained intact and thanks to Pureology’s Strength Cure line, I can assure it will remain full of life."

Step 1: Using a Balayage technique apply Redken Up to 7 with 30 volume developer as desired. Process at room temerpature for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Rinse and tone at the bowl with Redken Shades EQ 09t. Process for 5 minutes.

Step 3: To add a bit more of a silver tone to the hair, blend 2 oz of Shades EQ Clear with a drop, ("and I mean a DROP) of Shades EQ 01b. Apply at the bowl from root to ends. Rinse immediately.

Step 4: Blow dry the hair with Pureology Root Lift and Lustrous Volumizer and add a loose wave with a 1 3/4 inch marcel iron.
