THE EVENT: The 2015 North American Trend Vision Awards (NATVA) held at the Aria Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada.

THE DETAILS: 44 artists from the United States and Canada competed for the Gold, Silver and Bronze titles in each of the Student, Young Talent and Color Vision categories. Taking Gold for the U.S. were Katie Manselle in Color Vision, Alisha Basham in Young Talent and Julie Richard in Student. Taking home top honors for Canada were Ilona Garson in Color Vision, Paige Ingram in Young Talent and Angelica Grasso in Student. The North American gold winners of the 2015 North America Trend Vision Awards, Katie Manselle of Raleigh, NC (Color Vision Category), and Alisha Basham of Eugene, OR (Young Talent) will join Canadian winners, Ilona Garson of Ottawa, ON (Color Vision Category) and Paige Ingram of Vancouver, BC (Young Talent) on their way to represent the U.S. and Canada at the International Trend Vision Awards, staged in Berlin on November 22, 2015.

THE JUDGES: This year’s star-studded panel of judges included Whitney Port, Tabatha Coffey, Andy LeCompte, Eden Sassoon, Oscar Blandi and Frank Marasco.  Judges evaluated each look based on criteria specific to the finalists’ category (Student, Young Talent or Color Vision) critiquing overall look, technique and creative expression. 

HIGHLIGHTS: In addition to the live competition and awards, the evening showcased an inspiring line up of artistic presentations from top international talent. D&J Ambrose presented the Urban Camouflage collection for Wella Professionals, Sebastian Professionals Creative Directors, Shay Dempsey and Michael Polsinelli showcased their new collection Metamorphik and Sassoon Academy’s Mark Hayes, Traci Sakosits and Richie Rivera’s presentation consisting of three trends, Yeah Yeah!, Dekadenz and Gothique. It was a show to remember.
