Jessica Mendieta (@jessdomyhair) of the Butterfly Loft (@butterflyloftsalon) in Los Angeles, CA., had a classic salon challenge. "After two years of growing her hair out from a bob, my client realized she had way more fun rocking short hair," says Mendieta. "First thing I did was update her hair into a sexy long bob."

After that, Mendieta got busy with the color. Here she shares the HOW TO:

Formula A: Wella Blondor Powder Lightener + 20 volume
Formula B: Wella Blondor Powder Lightener + 30 volume developer
Formula C: Wella Blonder Powder Lightener + 10 volume developer
Formula D: Wella Illumina 6/19 + Wella Color Touch 1.9%

Application:

STEP 1: Taking half inch sections starting in the back, create baby highlights, fanning up to the root, using Formula A.
STEP 2: Moving onto the front two sections, use Formula B on the mids, then use Formula C on the ends. Process for 40 minutes, then rinse.
STEP 3: Apply KMS Color Vitality (Blonde Shampoo). Let that sit for 10 minutes then rinse.
STEP 4: Apply Formula D onto towel dried hair. Process for 15 minutes, then rinse.
STEP 5: Condition with Matrix Biolage (Color Bloom Masque). Process under the dryer for 30 minutes, then rinse.
