Kayla Johnson (@kaylajohnsonhair) of Salon LaBelle, Alexandria, Minnesota, is a balayage and blonde specialist who likes to focus on natural looking finishes.
For this client, Johnson had an interesting challenge. "My client came in with a few month old traditional all over foil. She didn't like the yellow tone and wanted more dimension while staying as blonde as possible."
Here she shares the details for the color conversion:
Step 1: Place back to back babylights through the hairline and either side of her part using Pulp Riot lightener and 10 volume developer with Fanola Fiber Fix added for strength.
Step 2: Stretch the root from the parietal ridge through nape increasing the stretch when nearing the nape using Fanola 6.0 and double 3.5 volume.
Step 3: Pre-tone using Fanola No Yellow at the bowl for 5 minutes. Rinse. Towel dry.
Step 4: Apply Redken Shades EQ equal parts 9n 9v 9b and Clear for 10 minutes.
