Continuing education is key to expanding your skill set. That's why the Salon by InStyle inside JCPenny is offering two days of free classes on three of the hottest color trends: foilayage, color mélange and pastellics. Every licensed cosmetologist is invited to attend this educational event.
During a recent Facebook Live with MODERN, National Artistic Educator Kellie Ferraro demonstrated the foilayage technique that will be taught at the classes. Foilayage comes from combining the placement of foil highlights and the free-hand painting of balayage.
Ferraro used Matrix light master with 30 volume and 20 volume. Using weaved sections, she painted the hair with a light wrist and placed foils in between. She painted the hair left out in the back and the sides like she did in the foil (she did not put in foil on these left-out sections). It was not a scalp application. After processing, she glazed with Matrix color Sync 10A and 10A and 10 volume.
