Top-performing post: A photo of some foil work I did on a client using black foils by Framar. I think it went viral because of how sleek and uniform the foils looked, and her blunt bob still looked perfect even with all those foils in her hair. I was debating whether it was even worth posting, so I just couldn’t believe the response it got!

Favorite apps: When I take photos in front of a white wall, I like to use Snapseed to brighten the background. The contrast between my client and the clean white background makes the hair pop. Sometimes I use Facetune to smooth any blemishes on the skin that could take the focus away from the hair.

Pro tip: Choose an angle that both complements the hair and the client. The whole composition of the photo has to look good, not just the hair. Also lighting is everything! The best lighting I’ve found is indirect sunlight, such as in front of a window or doorway.

Hidden talent: I really enjoy braiding. Like intricate, cornrow type braiding. I don’t do it enough, and I wish I would!

My audience follows me because: I think my audience loves to follow me because I post a variety of content from my daily work behind the chair to educational videos for @three_coloreducation. I work very clean, and I think people appreciate seeing that.

How social media changed my life: I was able to learn SO much more about the industry and advertising your business outside of what you learned in school or the salon. I built my entire clientele through Instagram and now am part owner of an online education platform called @three_coloreducation, which has also grown from social media.

My first @modernsalon feature: The first time I got featured on MODERN SALON was on my last day of beauty school! It was a balayage and bob hair cut I had done on my best friend, and I was so proud of the lived-in style I had done on her. I just couldn’t believe my work had been featured as a student, let alone it happened to be on my last day of school! It was an amazing day to say the least.
