Before.
When
I create a
look, it’s
not about
what’s in
fashion,
but what’s
going to
look
great
after she
leaves
the salon.
—Julien Farel
Begin with the lightener. Blend L’Oréal Professionnel Pure
Platinium with 30-volume developer in a bowl. Brush the
lightener onto a color comb.
Using the baliage technique, apply lightener from roots to line
of demarcation. Work in two-inch partings from the nape to
crown.
Cotton and clear plastic are used to separate the sections.
Continue working forward, applying to finer sections around
the face.
Use heat from a blow dryer to speed up the processing to the
last applications.
While the front is processing, rinse the back that has lifted to
the desired shade. Once the front processes, shampoo and
condition the hair.
Follow with a demi perm as a toner all over. Blend dark blonde
with its own processing lotion.
Apply in one-inch sections from roots to ends.
Process for 10 minutes, shampoo and condition.
Michael Liang, Julien Farel salon colorist, completes the look with a natural, dimensional brunette.
