MAKEOVER: Subtle and Sunkissed Makeover

Maggie Mulhern | June 12, 2017 | 6:21 PM

"My client had 3 foils done by a previous stylist about a year ago and the rest of her hair was virgin," says Azbaa (@hairbyazbaa) a Junior hair stylist at Mandy's Art Studio, Surrey, British Columbia. "She came to me wanting the more subtle and sunkissed look for the sunny days to come."

  • To achieve the look, Azbaa used Joico Verolight lightening powder with 40 volume and Olaplex, lifting the hair to a level 7. "This cut through the bright orange which took about an hour."
  • The hair was then toned with Joico ash series 4A from roots to mids and then 5A from mids to ends. The hair was then processed for 15-20 minutes.

From Foiled and Damaged To Luscious Red

Maggie Mulhern | October 1, 2017

"This client had been doing full foils for years, and her hair showed it," says Tiffinie Morton (@hairbytiffinie). "We had been working on getting her hair healthier and decided to try something new. She initially wanted to go to a warm level 5 but I talked her into trying this to ease her into being darker since she had been blonde for so long." Details here.
