WELCOME, NOVEMBER! As this issue arrives you’re gearing up for the most wonderful—and busy—time of the year.
The holidays are such a lucrative season for stylists and salons. Clients are coming in for fresh color for family photos to grace their greeting cards, festive manicures and blowouts for holiday parties—not to mention all the retail and gift-card opportunities.
The hustle and bustle can be an exciting time, but sometimes high activity can equal high anxiety. As the days ﬂy by, don’t forget about caring for your own health this season. You don’t need to spend hours at the gym to get started; it can be as simple as packing easy, healthy snacks for while your client is processing, drinking enough water and getting enough rest at night.
I’m typically my most anxious in those moments of quiet, such as when I’m lying in bed reﬂecting on my day. It can be so hard to shut off that inner voice going through tomorrow’s to-do list.
I’ve found tremendous relief in getting more shut-eye by spending time practicing gratitude and really focusing in on and expressing gratitude for my health, my beautiful family and my incredible job, for example.
“Practicing gratitude” was number seven on a Forbes list of 15 things you can do to stay centered and get in touch with the best parts of yourself.
