HOW TO: Cute Platinum Pearl Pixie

Mary Ott (@maryhanna65), of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania loves to cut, carve and color manes daily. "I would have to say my true passion is styling," she says. "I've always loved the art in all the shapes that one can create within a style or up style."

We were stopped in our tracks by this collage Ott posted on Instagram. We tracked her down to learn more. "When I first started with my client Kara, she had shoulder length virgin hair. I eased her into bayalage, and slowly started chopping and carving away at her mane. Eventually,  I convinced her to become familiar with the blue/purple family. A couple months ago I gave her my 'Monroe' cut (she first brought in a picture of Marilyn Monroe for color inspiration) and turned her plum purple. Today, she came in with a faded lilac and 1-2 inches of regrowth."

Here she offers the HOW TO bring her to this perfect platinum pixie:

Step 1: Apply 40 volume Wella Blondor to the regrowth and hairline. " I poured a little bit of  Moroccanoil inside the for mula for control and conditioning."

Step 2: Take fine slices, starting from the back nape area through to the front, using the same formula.

Step 3: Place plastic wrap over each section, making sure to not press onto the hair.

Step 4: Place client under heat for 10 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse and shampoo with Matrix So Silver. Towel dry throughly.

Step 6: Tone/glaze with Wella Color Touch 10/81 with 1/4 ounce of 8/0 for depth, blended with 4% developer. Apply first to the root area for 15 minutes and then to the ends for 3 minutes. Rinse with cool water, towel dry and apply Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Mask for 10 minutes.
