HOT PINK

Guy Lemieux (@Guyzers) and his apprentice Allana Swayze (@lanaswayze), both of Berns and Black Salon, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, punched up this pink shade and we had to know more. Here he shares the HOW TO:

Step 1: Apply Schwarzkopf Blondme lightener (ration 2:1) with 40 volume developer  (45 grams of powder to 90 grams of developer) from root to end. Blend with 1/4 ounce Olaplex.

Step 2: Check the color every 5 minutes, lifting to prevent hot pockets from forming in this very thick hair. Process for 45 minutes after application.

Step 3: Rinse thoroughly for 5 minutes. Do not shampoo.

Step 4: On dry hair apply CHI Chromashine hair color Hot Fuchsia to the 2 inches of regrowth. "The reason I decided to do a darker root was to compensate for the fact that her natural color lightened to a more pale tone than her colored ends." On ends apply CHI Chromashine Pure Pink.

Step 5: Process with heat for 10 minutes. "The reason I did this was to open the cuticle more and allow the color to penetrate." Cool for an additional 10 minutes and then rinse until the water runs pale pink.

Step 6: Apply step 2 of Olaplex and process for 20 minutes. Rinse and then shampoo/condition with Hydrate Me by Kevin Murphy.
