Clare Ptolemy (@clarissad7) of the Branded Spade Salon in Texico, New Mexico, is doing a lot of great color in her small town. When we saw this transformation on her Instagram page, we had to know more. Here she shares the HOW TO in her own words:

Formula A: (root color) Schwarzkopf BlondMe color in Lift Ice
Formula B: ( new growth for highlights) Matrix V-Light bleach, Olaplex 1, Schwarzkopf BlondMe developer in 30v
Formula C: (old color and highlights) Matrix V-Light bleach, Olaplex 1, Schwarzkopf BlondMe developer in 10v
Formula D: Schwarzkopf BlondeMe toner in Ice with 7v

"I used the Schwarzkopf developer because of its creamy consistency but used the V-Light bleach because it doesn't have as many levels of lift as the BlondMe bleach. From the nape of her neck to the top of her ear my highlight pattern was 2 slices to 1 weave. Formula B was used on the new growth and I feathered formula C in on the old color/highlights in the foils. Once I reached the top of her ear I switched to 2 weave highlights to 1 slice.

"I used two different formulas in the foils because her hair had already had multiple processes but I needed to lift out the brassy color and formula C was able to lift out the color without damaging her hair. I let the highlights process for about 35-40 minutes.

"During the last 5 minutes of processing I applied Formula A to her roots in between the foils starting at the top. I then applied Formula D from where the root color ended to the bottom of the midshaft leaving out the ends. I let her root color process for about 5-7 minutes but I kept an eye on it because I didn't want her to have hot roots. Once I see a level of lift I rinse because by the time all the foils are pulled out and you start rinsing, the color is perfect. I rinsed out all the color and had a little bit of Formula D left so I massaged it in all of her hair at the bowl. Everything was rinsed and I applied Olaplex 2 for 20 minutes. Shampooed with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and conditioner with the Restorative Hair Mask."
