Amelia ‘Violet’ Camp, (@violetthestylist), Colorist/Director of Education at Bouffant Beauty Bar in La Mesa, California, says, "I hadn’t seen Larissa in almost a year when she contacted me about changing up her grown out ombre. Since she was looking to lose some significant length, I started by doing a rough cut to her shoulders before preparing her color." The goal was to create a color that does not require the maintenance that comes with growing out a global lightener application. "I chose to surface paint the regrowth and midshaft to incorporate lightness without losing the depth provided by her natural color and paired it with saturating the midshaft and the ends completely."
Camp shares the how-to:
Step 1: Using 1oz L’Oreal Professionnel Blond Studio Multi Technique lightener + 2oz 35vol + 1/8oz Olaplex #1, incubate each section with foil for maximum lift. Process for 30 minutes until a very yellow level 9 is achieved and rinse.
Step 2: Shampoo using a post color shampoo. Do not condition. Complete the haircut utilizing both square one length and slightly graduated techniques. Dry completely.
Step 3: Prepare the emerald shade: Joico Color Intensities Peacock Green, Black Pearl and Yellow along with a little bit of Pravana Neon Yellow and Olaplex #2. Watch until pleased with the tone. Apply globally from roots to ends and process 25 minutes. Rinse and condition using cool water. Finished with a smooth style and refined Larissa’s new short style with a little dry cutting.
"Both Larissa and I were over the moon with her new look!"
