Every hairstylist has an arsenal of tools they consider their must-haves for creating picture-perfect results time and time again. In addition to precision cuts and vibrant colors, the importance of giving clients strong, healthy hair is at the core of what it means to work in a salon.

Frances Canola is a colorist in Orange, California. A quick glance at Canola's @frances_hairartist Instagram page shows picture after picture of no-nonsense, gorgeous balayage with a sunkissed finish. But Canola is about more than hair that looks good on social media. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining healthy hair with the right products.

Luckily, Rene Furterer shares Canola's passion for stronger locks. In addition to a wide range of shampoos, conditioners and finishing products, Rene Furterer's Okara Oil is a gamechanger. By using just one vial of the oil in a color formula, color is sealed in, and damage is repaired from the color process. The professional-use, single-dose treatment is designed to protect hair and the scalp during color treatments. It protects and hydrates while enhancing the radiance of color.

"The Okara Oil is my absolute favorite," Canola says. "It not only completely reduces any scalp sensitivity, but it also nourishes my clients' scalps and enhances the end result with so much shine."

The oil can also be added to the scalp if it is sensitive to color or for added shine from the root to the tip to create an almost clear glaze. It features Okara extract for repairing and reinforcing the natural structure of the hair as well as Castor Oil, Sesame Oil and Vitamin E to magnify highlights while offering protection against the damaging effects of UV rays. The oil's anatide film-forming complex isolates the scalp to protect hair from dehydration.

In the video below, Canola applied half a vial of the Okara Oil directly on and through her client's scalp prior to the bleach retouch application.

Canola processed the hair for 30 minutes and then rinsed and shampooed with the Okara Silver Toning shampoo. She then added the remaining half of the Okara Oil vial to her toning formula and finished the toning process with the Okara Silver Toning conditioner.
