Las Vegas is crawling with Farouk and CHI artists. All are here to support and create beautiful hair for the Miss USA competition to take place tomorrow evening.

Tammy Mixon, a top CHI artist, was on hand to offer styling tips to several of the Miss Teen contenders who are in Las Vegas to support their "sisters" in the pageant world. All were fascinated with the new CHI ARC rotating iron that Mixon used to demonstrate special texture for the girls to wear both during and after competition.

Modern asked Mixon how to create perfect curls for the teen client for Prom, sweet 16's or graduation parties. "It's important to create looks that will last the night," she says. "I love using the ARC because the rotating barrel moves left or right, depending on your need, and offers  maximum control and options." Mixon points out that using strong sprays both before and after curling will help to keep the curl in place. "Even though it all looks so easy, it's important not to rush the finish," she says. "Make sure to allow the hair to cool before finishing. That will help the shape last longer."

Here Mixon offers a quick demo of the perfect, simple curl for the teen client.
