Jessica Madden (@onejessicamadden), an educator at DePasquale's Cosmetology School, Artistic Academy, Morris Plains, NJ, had an opportunity with this demo model: "This client had previous creative color blocking that faded into washed out pastel colors, which needed a vibrant boost for her spunky personality. Originally I planned on creating an ethnic natural curly haircut, however my students know I will not cut anyone's hair unless the color is refreshed and compliments the customized cut to achieve a harmonious style. So I offered to give her the color correction she desired by going darker to give it revived personality along with the luster it once had!" Madden used Lakme Color and finishing products to create this look.
Step 1: Apply Mixtones 30g 0/50 15g 5/55+ with 70g of 10 volume developer on the green areas of her hair (on the front hairline, nape and at the mid-shaft in some areas throughout the head).
Step 2: Process for 20 minutes (until the green is neutralized completely).
Step 3: From roots to ends apply: 60g 5/22+ with 90g 10 volume developer applied in a horseshoe section from partial ridge down to the nape to create an overall gradient from dark to light violet at the top.
Step 4: Proess for 35 minutes.
Step 5: While the new growth is processing, balayage the same 5/22+ formula creatively placing 1 inch sections through the crown area to give dimension.
Step 6: After rinsing, shampoo with Teknia Deep Care Shampoo. Towel dry. The pink/peach faded pieces that remained served as a foundation for the next application.
Step 7: Gloss/tone with 60g 8/22 with 120g of 6 volume.
Step 8: Process for 7 minutes . Finished off with a Deep Care Conditioner and treatment .
