Recently many of you were invited to participate in groundbreaking new research conducted through MODERN SALON’s Healthy Hairdresser program. After narrowing our sample to U.S. hairdressers, we are tabulating the data respondents provided and will reveal some of key findings during the City of Hope (COH) Spirit of Life Banquet on July at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. With a theme of “Celebrating Cures,” the evening will include the presentation of the Spirit of Life Award to Harlan Kirschner, President of The Kirschner Group. The Healthy Hairdresser collaboration with COH builds upon a 30-year relationship forged by the salon industry as one of COH’s industry partners. COH provides resources for some of the medical advances we report on in Healthy Hairdresser as well as sharing with Healthy Hairdresser readers opinions on current health topics from COH physicians.
An initial peek at the research results indicates that hairdressers are concerned about their health and the many ways their work can affect their wellbeing. Throughout the remainder of this year and into 2015, we will rely on this research to establish, for the first time, benchmarks on topics relating to hairdressers’ health. This data will help us to shape Healthy Hairdresser content to meet hair pros’ interests and concerns and, ultimately we hope, help all hairdressers to maintain health throughout a long, productive career.
