HOW-TO: Icy Pink Highlights from Moroccanoil

When Moroccanoil launched 10 years ago, the brand quickly became known for its devotion to healthy hair. Now, the cult favorite is jumping into the color-care game with the launch of its Color Complete Collection, which is designed to enhance and maintain fresh color designs while maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.

Silver has been around for a while and, instead of fading in popularity, celebrity colorist Briana Cisneros believes it’s changing—going a bit more pastel and less intense.

“It’s not as deep or metallic as last year,” Cisneros says. “It’s a softer hue, and works as a better blend.” Silver blending with pastels are currently one of the colorists’ favorite looks. “Pastel tones and unnatural colors are here and not going away. I love it when it looks organic, rather than so digital, it should look like nature, like an orchid. I love a blend of nature and fantasy.”

For model Sierra, Cisneros was thrilled to use the new line. “She is clearly someone who enjoys playing with color,” says the colorist. “She has had three different extreme shades in just four months. This is hair that needs some love and attention.”

Moroccanoil Artistic Director Kevin Hughes decided to cut for versatility, to create three different looks with lots of layers: “It’s a cut that allows her to change the style, from smooth to textured, and from classic to something with a bit more edge.”
