From Box To Red To Pink To Faded To Silver/Blue Sombre

One of MODERN's favorite artists, Gina Atkinson (@ginaatkinson) of Sola Salon, Las Vegas, has been on quite a journey with client Nicole. "She came in inspired by lots of different gray looks," says Atkinson. "We had recently worked her out of red. I really didn't want to lift her hair again, so we settled for a bit darker healthier version." Nicole is not only  "trim-ophobic", but was "a constant box dyer before seeing me. Her hair is still very fragile from all the processing."

Here Atkinson shares the how to for this most recent haircolor, which we believe, will NOT be her last:

Step 1: Apply Redken Chromatics 5ab + Blue, equal parts, to her base. Feather down about 3 inches from her scalp.

Step 2: Mix Redken Chromatics 6av + Blue, equal parts, and feather that from the 5ab to about 6 inches from her scalp.

Step 3: Mix Redken Chromatics 7ab+ 8av+ Blue, equal parts, from the second color to the ends.

Step 4: Process for 30 minutes.

Step 5: Rinse with cool water, towel dry and apply Redken Shades EQ 9t over the ends.

Step 6: Process for 15 minutes. Shampoo and condition.
