Stephanie Palmer (@rockin_locks) of Rockin Locks Hair Studio, Albuquerque, NM, wowed us with this transformation. We all know how hard it is to transition from black/red to blonde, but this master artist tackled this head of hair without fear. "My client Sylvia is always a challenge," says Palmer of her client who plays with black and fashion colors on a regular basis. "Sylvia's sides and back are a level 1 black, while her top and bangs are red, orange, violet. The desired shade is a level 10 on her natural level 5 hair."
Here Palmer shares the 2 appointment HOW TO:
STEP 1: 1st appointment: Apply the Wella Color Charm Color removal kit "to safely soften the colors as her hair was previously compromised from over processing. The goal is to bring her level 1 to a red/orange stage and her fashion colors to a neutral stage." Repeat twice. Follow with a deep conditioning treatment using Wella Brilliance Conditioning Treatment for coarse/colored hair.
STEP 2: 2nd appointment: Apply to the brassy red/orange areas from mid shaft to ends: 1 oz Wella Professional Blondor+2 oz 30-volume Koleston Perfect Developer. On top and bangs apply: 1 oz Wella Professional Blondor+ Color Touch 4% emulsion using 1/8 oz.
STEP 3: 3rd appointment/final stage: Saturate the hair using Wella Leave In Conditoning Balm ("to act as a porosity filler for more even coverage.") From new growth to ends apply 2 oz Color Touch 10/81 + 2 oz 9/01 + plus 4 oz Color Touch 6 volume developer.
STEP 4: Process for 40 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condiiton the hair.
