Formula How-To: Starburst by Alfaparf

Victoria Wurdinger | October 28, 2015 | 2:14 PM

For a classic style with a modern twist, try direct color on traditional highlights for a chic take on an old-school technique.

FORMULAS & APPLICATION:

Natural level 8

Formula & Step 1. Supermeches+ (blue powder lightener) and 20-volume Alfaparf Oxid’o in a 1:2 mixing ratio. Apply the formula, using a virgin bleach application. Process to pale yellow (about 45 minutes).

Formula & Step 2. ½ oz 10.02 + ½ oz 9.13 with Color Wear Activator 5 volume, mixed in a 1:2 ratio. Apply from roots to ends, process 15 minutes, then rinse and dry.

Formula & Step 3. Use rEvolution Pure Yellow in amount desired. (For intense color apply to dampened hair.) First, take a ⅛-inch slice from the top of the fringe and clip it out of the way. Then take a diagonal-shaped section from the temple to just behind the ear on both sides of the head. Clip the sections out of the way. Apply the formula, first in diagonal slices on both sides of the head, under the sections that were clipped out of the way. Then apply it to the remaining fringe from roots to ends. In the diagonal-shaped section, apply the formula from mid-shaft to ends (approx. 2 inches from scalp). Process 20 minutes.
