Jay Rua (@jayrua_glam), Glamour Beauty Salon, Las Vegas, transformed his client with an uninteresting faded shade to a caramel sombre that caught our eye on Instagram. "She came in with grown out highlights," says Rua. "Her base was at a level 6 and highlights at a level 7. She requested a color with lighter tips and a base tone close to her old highlights."
Rua knew a caramel sombre would do the trick. Here he shares the HOW TO:
Step 1: Apply Pravana 4.3 (neutral, gold) with a 10 lift to the hair to match her natural shade and to create an even canvas.
Step 2: Process for 20 minutes. Shampoo the hair. Dry thoroughly.
Step 3: Tease the hair at the root. From below the teased area, in a foil/balayage application, apply Redken Flash Lift (blended with Olaplex) with 30 volume developer in 2 inch sections.
Step 4: Process for 45 minutes, lifting the old highlights to a level 9 and base to a warm level 8. Rinse and towel dry.
Step 5: Tone with Pravana 7.31 ash/gold to cancel unwanted brass tones and to give warmth and shine.
Step 6: Process for 10 minutes and then rinse.
