Kylie Butler (@kylierose_hairartist) of The Nest, inside the Salons by JC, Seattle, WA., loves working with fashion colors. When MODERN saw this transformation on her Instagram page, we had to know more.
Here Butler shares the details for this makeover that took 3 hours:
"My client came to me with very grown out, very old color. She had used Special Effects Atomic Pink in her hair over one year ago, and the color turned into a vibrant coral tone. Our goal was to refresh her hair, but take away the maintenance of a full bleach and tone, and we wanted to cover those coral ends."
Step 1: Apply full balayage using Wella Blondor Freelights mixed with 40 volume developer and Olaplex. Process for 45 minutes.
Step 2: Rinse the hair and apply Olaplex step 2 for 10 minutes at the bowl. Shampoo. Tone the ends with Paul Mitchell 10A to "cool down" the coral shade.
Step 3: Mix three different bowls of Pravana Vivids:
Bowl 1 - Pravana green
Bowl 2 - one ounce Pravana Blue and a half an ounce of Pravana Neon Blue
Bowl 3 - one ounce Pravana Violet with half an ounce Pravana Wild Orchid.
Step 4: Apply these colors starting at the nape, rotating each shade, 2 in a section. Separate with Embee Meche. Process for 25 minutes. Rinse in cold water and then condition.
