THE DETAILS: One thousand brand leaders and industry professionals attended the boundary-pushing event. With a theme of “Shout Your Beauty” at an impressive venue, the BCL Experience encouraged stylists, attendees and models to celebrate Beauty Changes Lives Legacy Award winner Dr. Howard Murad. The evening began with an exclusive dinner to honor Murad, continued with a pink carpet hosted by Editor in Chief Alison Alhamed and Senior Editor Lauren Quick, and finished with the runway presentation and celebration with DJ Sean Mac.
Teams of mentors and NextGen artists—American Crew, CND, Mizani, Redken, TIGI, Wella and Matrix—picked individual themes on which to showcase on three to four models per team. Themes included empowerment (Mizani), Hairdressers at Heart (Wella), genderless beauty (TIGI) and more.
THE FEEL-GOOD: The evening had a strong focus on social media that did some good for the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation; for every image tagged #ShoutYourBeauty on social media, Pivot Point donated $1 to the foundation with the goal of raising $10,000. The non-profit raises funds for beauty school scholarships, professional beauty mentorships and continuing education. Pivot Point will continue to donate $1 for every #ShoutYourBeauty and #BeautyChangesLives hashtag through Aug. 7, 2016.
